Fall is coming!

School has started and fall is coming. I am kind of sad that summer has ended, (at least for me) but fall has some good things about it as well. I always struggle with fall clothes though. What to wear.... I recently went to Target and bought a pair of gray suede boots, that I absolutely LOVE! I also bought a purple solid color shirt, and a pale blue shirt.
What exactly do you think are fall colors? When I think of fall, I think of deep, dark colors. Burnt oranges, dark greens, plum purples etc. But I don't really like those colors. At least they don't look that great on me. So I was thinking of using lots of gray, blue, different shades of purple, and some green. Not exactly fall colors, but I like to change things up.

I only like fall sometimes. (Confusing, I know :) I do not like fall when it is always dark and dreary, and when it rains a lot. I like fall when it is just starting to get cool, and the leaves are slowly changing. Last year fall was very depressing. (And winter- to much snow!)

Several days ago I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate ganache, and white chocolate curls on top. YUM!! I used the chocolate ganache recipe from Georgetown Cupcake. All you need is 2 C. chocolate chips, and 1 C. heavy cream. Easy, right? You just put a glass bowl over a pot of boiling water and add in the chocolate and the cream, while stirring the whole time. It only takes about 3 minutes to make, and it taste great! After I made the cupcakes, I had left over ganache and I dipped pretzels in it. :P They also said that it is great warm, over ice cream. I am sure that would be wonderful. ;)

FABulous Finds!

Yesterday I went to the Snob Shop. (Which is a very nice consignment store that sells name brands: Lilly Pulitzer, J. Crew, Anne Taylor, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren Etc.) I got...
-An adorable pink J. Crew skirt with embroidered bumble bees
-A cute white eyelet top ($4!!!)
-And a navy J. Crew T-shirt with lime green embroidered shell on it.

I was thrilled to find all of this stuff, and in good condition! I spent less than 30 dollars total. YAY!

While we were shopping, I saw some cowboy boots. I have decided that I now like them. I didn't used to. (They were $266. I couldn't help but gasp a little bit. Is that how much they normally are?) These were not my favorite style (They had a super pointy toe) but I would love to find some. What do you think about cowboy (Cowgirl) boots? Would you wear them? I think they became popular after Taylor Swift started wearing them with cute printed dresses. What type of outfits would you wear them with?

Liberty of London

I think that Liberty of London is definitely one of my favorite brands from Target. Everything is so cute!
I LOVE this ad! (Wait- I actually like ads and commercials now?!?)

They always use the same consistent, cute patterns
They have a variety of things
Including bicycles. I mean ADORABLE bicycles.......

Have you found anything that you hands down, absolutely loved? Care to share?

Prom

I am not going to prom this year, but since it is coming closer, I thought it would be a fun idea to show you what I would want to wear to prom. I found this incredible dress at J. Crew. The funny thing is that before I had seen this dress, I had designed one that I wanted. (It looked almost exactly like this one!) And then I found this;
I wanted a floor length dress. Check. Either cream or white. Check. I wanted it to also have a simple Grecian look to it. Check. Now the dress I had envisioned was not a wedding dress, but this one is. I LOVE this dress, but I think I would want a fancier dress for my wedding. I think this one could easily pass for prom.

I would love to have my hair done something like this;
Or in an elegant bun with a simple small flower
(This is the only one I could find, the flower would need to be whiter and smaller, so that it would not take away from the ruffle/flowers on the dress.)

Either gold filigree earrings, or small pearls.
If the shoes were a little whiter (the rose) or the dress was a little creamier colored, I would say possibly these shoes. I think heels would probably be over the top. Simple flats would be good to. If these shoes were worn, I would not do the flower in the hair. That would be over doing it. (Wait, did I just say more flowers would be over doing it?!? Well they would, but I didn't think I would ever say that! ;)

I would also add a small clutch. I think that that would be plenty, so as it would not drown out the simplicity of the dress.

Feel free to leave me a comment telling about your prom experiences, and what you wore! It would also be fun to see some pictures!

I am so very excited! I got a new black cardigan from Talbot's, on the sell rack for only $15!! It was wonderful!! I had really been needing one, and so now I have planned tons of outfits to wear with it.

-Black Cardigan + white shirt +jeans + black boots = AMAZING!

-Black Cardigan + white ruffle skirt + solid color shirt + flats = AWESOME!!

There are tons of other incredible outfits to wear with it. As you can probably tell, I am very excited!

I also got a Vineyard Vines belt from a consignment store, and it looks brand new!! There were tons of cute Eliza B, VV, & Lilly P belts. I got a VV patchwork belt (not the one below) and love it!!

HELP!

I am in need of blogger help. I am trying to find cute clothes for cheap prices. (It seems practically impossible at this point;) Recently Target has not had anything that is my style. Just to help you know what my style is-

I love preppy clothes-(Lilly P, J. Crew, Brooks Brothers) no Hollister/Abrocrombie

trench coats
funky jewelry
monogrammed items
cameos

colors- sea-foam green, pink, periwinkle, light aqua, peach

I have no idea where to shop. Sometimes we go to nice consignment stores, because you can find different styles, and not just what is the trend of the year. But lately I have not had much luck. If you know of any stores/online stores where I could find something along these lines, please let me know! Thanks so much!

Fall trends 2009

Oh someone tell me this is not going to be the fall trends for 2009! AHHHH! We are just going back to the 80's and 90's aren't we?!?

I think the only thing she mentioned that I liked were corduroys, (Pants) & ruffled shirts. Not her style of ruffled shirts.. *GAG!

This is not in the least what I had pictured for fall.
I was thinking more like.....

-Trench coats
-Feather headbands
-ruffle solid colored shirts
-cords
-The classics

You get the idea! It is so crazy how things come back into style. I mean neon colors?

Fashion Inspirations

Don't you just love walking into a store that says your name all over it? Well thats what I feel when I walk into Banana Republic, or J. Crew. They both have a classic look. Something that is timeless and never goes out of style. (Like Brooks Brothers, or Talbots)

I think this cardigan, (I wouldn't wear it with the belt) and this skirt with the thick waist, are really cute! We went to Banana republic and tried on outfits. Mine was this (Above) with a black flower head band, flats, and a clutch. Don't you just love trying things on that you know you can't afford????!?!? Or is that just me? ;)

Is there any store that screams YOUR name, and that you just love looking around in?

Recently I just saw the movies "Confessions of a Shop Aholic," and "Legally Blonde." Both movies were completely ADORABLE! I would so be friends with Rebecca Bloomwood, and Elle Woods!! They are so sweet and innocent! I am in a major chick-flick phase... he he!

Yesterday my Gran-Gran, took me and Abby to an old gold mine. We went panning, and I found a spec of GOLD!! I AM NOW OFFICALLY RICH!! Hardly.... ;0 It was still really fun though!

We also got to go insde an old mine, which is not used any more. We were over 50 feet under ground (Creepy!!)

There was a really interesting story about the mine. It went something like this-

"Once there was a 12 year old boy who was playing in a creek and found a large rock, weighing 17 punds. He thought it was a pretty colour, so brought it home and used it as a door stop for three years. When he was 15 (?) he took it down town and asked some one how much it was worth, the man said it was not worth anything, but the boy kept it. Once more he went to town and asked a jeweler how much it was worth, the jeweler recognized it as gold and asked how much he wanted to sell it for. The boy didn't know how much it was worth so he decided to sell it for $3.50- a usual farmers wages in a week. The man readily bought it. Several years past and the boy went to another jewleler and found out that his worthless 'rock' could have been sold for $3, 600- alot more than it was bought from him for. He went and looked for more rocks like the previous one. He found a ton more, and it was soon called the potato patch, because gold was found buy the bushel. They were the size of potatos, and were found just as easily. Later a gold mine was constructed and named after the boy."

I thought it was an interesting story and thought I would share!

Have a lovely Thursday!

A whole day of walking....and walking....and walking.....

Tuesday my mom, Lauren, Abby, and I went for a 3 1/2 hour walk. My feet were killing me once we finally finished!

We walked to the center of __________ and went to Saks & Fifth, Macy's, and Brooks Brothers.

Saks and Fifth- Prada. Icky. What has happened?? The "fashionista's have gone

hill. Take a good long glare at THIS purse.... snake skin.......Hilariously FAKE jewels...OR THIS purse. (Not to offend anyone. Just a personal opinion.)

Tory Burch is pretty cute. Although EXPENSIVE!! $$$$$ kuuuhhhh-CHING, KA-CHING!!

Macy's-
Floppy sunhats!! SO fun!! THey had one that was white and real
ly large!! I was considering buying it, but I already have one.
They also had some cute jewelry, and umbrellas.

Brooks Brothers-

Adorable. Need I say more?? It is such a classic look. They had tons of seer sucker dresses/skirts/shorts.

I would sooo wear this on an African safari trip!!
White candy striped dress
Blue coral patterned dress

Adorable pineapple embroidered sear sucker skirt
UGGGG!! TOO CUTE!!
Basically the rest of the time walked in and out of old churches, AMAZING hotels, and small stores.

One church we went to had HUGE cathedral ceilings, stain glass windows and a big restroom. We were getting hungry so we had lunch in the women's 'powder room.' (It was not IN the bathroom it was just a sitting room outside of it.) It felt really weird, and I said some one should be playing on the organ and singing ghostly songs. {the atmosphere was really ghostly and there was NO ONE in the church.}(I have read waaay to many mysteries!!)

Several consignment Finds

I shop at consignment stores. I love them. You can find the best items (some being name brands) for cheaper prices.

Skirt- ETC. Consignments (Green and pink skirt with dalmations, and poodles)

Lauren Ralph Lauren Purse- Hand Picked Consignments

Shoes- SNOB Consignment Store (The shoes look like Tory Burch, but they are not.)
Today I got a swim suit, from Kohls. (I really do not like that store to the 10th power, but anyways, that is usually where I get my swimsuits.)
Its cute. Probably not my first choice, but it fit and the style was what I was looking for. It is a light blue stripped tankini.
Today I was a mothers helper for a really sweet lady from my church. She is super enthusiastic and encouraging. I love being around her! I helped her organize all of her school supplies, which was really fun but took 3 hours.

Prom Night, and alot of other random things!

Sorry for not posting in a while! I have been busy babysitting for two days. My family and I spent the night over at our friends house and took care of their precious 2 year old, Annie Catherine.

Saturday night was the prom. The theme was 'moonlight in Paris,' and thanks heavens they didn't use cardboard decorations! (last year I think it was 'enchanted forest' and there were cardboard fairies. How cheesy can ya get people?!?!?) It was all really pretty. There were candles, Eiffel towers, flowers, and a nice dance floor.

At 5:00 PM one of the moms served us a nice dinner at their house. She had a delish coffee bar, (WITH SUGAR CUBES!!! ill take two please. ;) chocolate covered espresso beans, (uuummmm uummm good! possibilities!) and cinnamon and cocoa powder to put in it. She also served us a key lime cheese ball with graham crackers. It was cream cheese, lime and some other things, but it was OH so good!

Prom started at 7:00 PM and lasted until 11:00 PM. I only got to stay until 9:00......It wasn't because I wasn't aloud too, but I got sick. I think it might be REALLLY bad allergies, or a virus.... No fuN! And I didn't get a rose! All the girls who went were supposed to get one when it was over, but since I had to leave early I didn't get one. Oh well.

They played some cute old music, and we did some swing dancing!! WHOOT WHOOT!!! Most of the music they played wasn't my favorite, (except for the old stuff) but it was fine. I saw a lot of people I knew, including several people from my class this year and last year, as well as some friends, and my language arts teacher!!

I GOT A PEDICURE!!!! hip hip... HOORAY!!! It is the same peach-y colour as my dress. (I will show some pictures of my dress on the next post.) It was really fun. First time ever.
okay, on to another topic!
I went to a smoothie shop and I heard this mom say too her 10/11 year old son-

"I need to go get something so stay here and open the door for people."

son- "okay"

then I came up and he opened the door for me, and I was like- "thanks!" and I started going in, then about halfway through he said- "I LOVE YOUR EARRINGS!!!!!!" (super enthusiastically, almost screaming it! ;) At first i thought he was trying to trick me or something, (You know how little boys are) because I did not remember putting on earrings. But I smiled really big and said thank you. That just made my day! (I DID have on earrings) and what made it better was that I had made them!!! he he!

My history presentation is almost finished!! YEA!!! (actually the presentation is done and so is my paper, I just have to start practicing more. And basically memorize it. oh the joy.

Lauren went yard sailing with a friend on Saturday and bought me and Abby a purse. I LOVE IT!!!!

My Book Shelf-

hmm......I need an exciting/intriguing book to read. Any ideas?? For school I am reading 'The Prince and the Pauper,' by Mark Twain. Its a good book, but I haven't gotten more than half of the way. After I am done with that I will need something else to work on. Maybe reading for over the summer.
Right now on my summer reading list I have-

Jane Eyre (I started it before school, and got almost half of it finished, but then school started and I didn't have time to finish it.)
Pride and Prejudice- seen the (6 hour) movie- I need to read the book!

The Great Gatsby- (Lauren really liked it- maybe I will to!;)

The Hidden Staircase Mystery- A Nancy Drew book. I have read this one, but not the old version! I found this book at an antique store. It is a first edition and is completely different from the new one.

A morbid Taste for Bones- Funny title. Do YOU have a morbid taste for bones!! hee hee..... Just kidding....

The Scarlet Letter-

As you can see I will be busy this summer! You will probably find me-

curled up in a retro chair

Sipping tea- preferably peppermint (iced)

and reading one of the books above.

Whats on your book shelf for the summer? Any recommendations for you to share with me? Leave a comment, I'd love to hear! Also which Pride and Prejudice movie do you like best? the six hour version or the new one? for me- the long one.

Psssst!!!!!! I know, I know this completely random but isn't this awesome!?!? I would just love to have that much cameo jewlery! ;)

Is it to random to say- I want an old fashioned type writter?? Okay I need to stop blogging.... I am rambling...........
