Thursday night randoms

Hello everyone, I really need to get better about posting, sorry for the break.
I hope you all had a great MLKD!!!

Today I spent basically just doing school. I also went to Borders and looked at...

I love Ina Garten, she is an incredible cook, and all of her food sounds great! Plus the presentation is just gorgeous!!

YUMMM!! ANd don't these cupcakes look incredible!?!?!?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My mom watched this movie and now is really starting to buy homegrown, organic food.

A small organic food market opened not far from our house sometime this year. Organic farmers sell their own food there. My mom just recently started buying there- Let me tell you, their chocolate milk, milk, and peppermint ice cream are soooooo good!!

My mom also bought some home grown spinach- It was beautiful!! It was the darkest color, and the biggest leaves, and you could DEFINITELY taste a difference from that and regular bagged spinach.

Have a great weekend! (almost!)

Books, and driving

Edit:
******I PASSED!!!******

Today was my VERY first day of In car! I was nervous when I first started, but I got a lot less scared after I had been driving awhile. I did it from 10:30-1:30. 3 hours a day for two days. So tomorrow will be my last day! YAY!! Then I can get my permit.

I was very glad that I had had some driving experience with my Dad. He took me to a parking lot not far away from our house, and let me drive around, and work on parallel parking, U-Turns, signals, backing up & parking. My teacher is really nice, and put me at ease.

On my previous post about Ebay, I mentioned getting an Essentially Lilly book, and an Ina Garten cookbook. Well I also ordered and received the Kate Spade Occasions, Style, and Manners books. All of them in a set for $20. (and shipping) If I had bought each one by its self and not from Ebay it would have been about $60 and tax. I saved about $40!! Yay!

[manners.jpg]

They are such cute books, loaded with good advice, and I would advise looking into them! They also have great sketches.

I get so excited when I buy books. They are so much fun to buy and look at. My collection is really colorful!

My headbands also came in the mail. I. Love. Them. I would definitely go and buy some from Ebay if I was you. They would make a great gift! They are homemade, but look store bought, and they are made with Lilly fabrics!! I think the ladies username is Marinas Closet. happy Shopping!

My Book Shelf-

hmm......I need an exciting/intriguing book to read. Any ideas?? For school I am reading 'The Prince and the Pauper,' by Mark Twain. Its a good book, but I haven't gotten more than half of the way. After I am done with that I will need something else to work on. Maybe reading for over the summer.
Right now on my summer reading list I have-

Jane Eyre (I started it before school, and got almost half of it finished, but then school started and I didn't have time to finish it.)
Pride and Prejudice- seen the (6 hour) movie- I need to read the book!

The Great Gatsby- (Lauren really liked it- maybe I will to!;)

The Hidden Staircase Mystery- A Nancy Drew book. I have read this one, but not the old version! I found this book at an antique store. It is a first edition and is completely different from the new one.

A morbid Taste for Bones- Funny title. Do YOU have a morbid taste for bones!! hee hee..... Just kidding....

The Scarlet Letter-

As you can see I will be busy this summer! You will probably find me-

curled up in a retro chair

Sipping tea- preferably peppermint (iced)

and reading one of the books above.

Whats on your book shelf for the summer? Any recommendations for you to share with me? Leave a comment, I'd love to hear! Also which Pride and Prejudice movie do you like best? the six hour version or the new one? for me- the long one.

Psssst!!!!!! I know, I know this completely random but isn't this awesome!?!? I would just love to have that much cameo jewlery! ;)

Is it to random to say- I want an old fashioned type writter?? Okay I need to stop blogging.... I am rambling...........

Nancy Drew

I haven't exactly talked about her much, but I LOVE NANCY DREW! She has this timelessness that many other books don't seem to have. I liked her better when she was in the 30's-50's.

I was not happy at ALL with the new movie they made of her.

It kind of ruined her for me, but then I was like- Well I have had her planned out in my mind for so long, sooo a dinky movie is not going to ruin her for me! I have been collecting Nancy Drew books for about 6 years-ish? I love going to used book stores and finding one I don't own. Right now I have the whole collection except for a couple.

Doesn't she look like a person you would want to be friends with? I love her vintage-ness!!!

Take notice of Georges red sailor dress!!! I WOULD SOOOOOO WEAR THAT!

Did you know that Carolyn Keene is not the person who made up Nancy Drew? She just wrote the books. An elderly man (forgot his name!) made up Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys, and The Bobbsey twins. He had Carolyn Keene write them all. (he had already made up the mystery part) But she used different pens names for each. Carolyn Keene, Franklin W. Dixon, and Laura Lee Hope.

When I was little I ALWAYS wanted to be like Nancy Drew, but my problem was that I could never find any mysteries like hers. Or any mystery's for that matter! And I wonder why her and the Bobbsey twins always found them!

Several weeks ago I went to borders and looked at the Nancy Drew books. To my shock, they started making NEW Nancy Drew books, that look really stupid and wanna-be, THEY GOT RID OF ALL THE AMAZING ILLUSTRATIONS!!!!! what is the matter with these people!??!?!?! I hate it when they do stuff like that! I mean the movie was bad enough but now the books!!!!! glad I have the old collection!;)

I have read through the whole collection about once, I am more than halfway through the second time. No, I am not obsessed!

Well I hope I didn't bore you to death with me and Nancy Drew!

PSSSTTT! has this type of things ever happened to you?
